I just got this a few weeks ago. I have no experience using this. I haven't turned it on. I need some ideas, or suggestions, or games, and is there a way I can game with other people here?

Gaming with other people usually just requires a multiplayer game and a friend who also has a switch and the same game.

Personally, I’m a Pokemon nerd, so if that appeals to you, I’d be happy to do remote battles or help you with trading stuff.

What kinds of games do you usually like playing?

I've never really played games like this. I'm kind of starting off tabula rasa.

Games like what? I know you had a Wii, that was similar, just less portable.

Switch Sports is a thing, which is fun to play with other people in-person. (Basketball, etc.)

I have a collection of bar games (pool, darts, etc.) that supports multiplayer. I can check to see what it's called later after work.

The guys at my last job would usually play a round or two of Smash Brothers after all the tickets were closed.

On a Nintendo, some games are staples: Legend of Zelda, Tears of the Kingdom (and if you haven't played it, Breath of the Wild, it's predecessor), Pokemon Games Legends of Arceus and Legends ZA are quite fun and different from the standard Pokemon game. Scarlett and Violet if you want a more traditional Pokemon game (it's open world-ish tho). I think the Switch 2 has backwards compatibility with the Switch, so Kirby, Smash, and Metroid are very good games to try.

Check out the eShop, they've got a lot of demos to download and try for free. see what floats your boat.

Online play with Nintendo requires a subscription. A neat perk with the sub beyond online play is access to the retro games, so you can go back and do Mario 64 if you want.

Do yourself a favor and go try out some games at Jon Sakura's shop, New Games Plus. He's a really good dude, he's got impeccable taste in games, and he absolutely adores Nintendo.

Louise and I go over there about once a month to tide her over on Switch 2 stuff until she goes ahead and buys one. It costs like $5 an hour, and if you get bored of the new hotness, there's a back room that's straight out of 1987 down to the brown stripey couch and the console TV.

What interests you? Are you looking for adventures and discovery? Do you prefer arcade-style experiences? Do you like RPGs, and if so do you want turn-based or real-time combat? Do you want to think and work and struggle or just chill and relax?
