Apple has just released a patch to older devices for bugs that have already been addressed in updates to newer models.
The bugs are part of the Coruna exploit kit, a spyware and surveillance package with 23 total exploits that targeted iOS releases from 13.0 to 17.2.1.
If you have an older iPhone or iPad that doesn't support the latest OS, you may need to update it ASAP.
Thanks, just passed this onto my Mum, she’s still using an iPad Air 2. Its old, can’t run some apps, and can’t render some websites properly anymore but for the most part it still does most of what she needs, everything else she can do on her iPhone

Too bad Apple won't let devices capable of updating to iOS 26 get updates for the older version. Guess I'm stuck running insecure software; thanks Apple.
I was wondering about this. I got an update notification on my old iPad Pro - and that thing hasn't seen an update in years. Thankfully, I only use it to remote in to other machines, so it's not super critical.
Ran the update on Mum’s iPad today when she came for lunch. For whatever reason it rebooted again and had another go at installing the update after the first attempt, not sure if thats normal or because Mum’s iPad is almost out of space.
