A couple years ago I got my grandparents record collection when they moved into assisted living and cleaned out their house.

I've been working my way through it. They had varied tastes.

I also got a pretty decent mixture of stereo equipment from them and a step-grandparent who was downsizing his setup.

I don't listen to much music at all lately, occasionally I'll relisten to something classic I've heard hundreds of times, get a slightly new experience from the current frame of mind, and perhaps I just do a lot of remembering of prior listening over the years. The reason for this type of behavior is that being a musician I'm constantly either playing music in my mind or practicing my instrument or writing music on a laptop, but more lately I've been having telling AI to write music that I send lyrics to and that has been fascinating from a listener perspective while feeling like you're part of the process of the creation. When I first started using AI songwriting tools I wondered if this is the future of music listening, an actual interactive experience where the music people will listen to music that will almost always be spontaneously created based on words they want to hear in specific genres they want created with specific performance cues to be enacted for new and unique listening experiences. Even if it takes 20 years for the world to catch up and think this way, the tools are already available for the songwriter mindset and that's very exciting.

Something oddball that my girlfriend introduced to me was Brazilian music. I ended up loving it while we were on our trip to Rio. Particularly I'm lately listening to a lot of:

He's Puertorican and very political with his lyrics. Not the usual urban music artist in PR. Much older than Bad Bunny who has also been releasing culturally and politically charged songs.

If it weren't right in the middle of the swim season (and if I weren't already stepping out for my 20th anniversary and to do stupid stuff with my dad), I'd be getting tickets to see Nuclear Power Trio in Denver:

I took the whole family out to see Alestorm when they came through, and it was a pretty good show up until my younger kid hopped in the circle pit, then it was fuckin' amazing.

Got tickets to see Sevendust coming up, haven't heard them since the early '00s.

We went and saw Primus/Puscifer/A Perfect Circle for both v1.0 (at Red Rocks) and v2.0 (here in Albuquerque) of Sessanta (Maynard James Keenan's 60/61st birthday). John Hoffman is a really great drummer, and he's revitalized Primus, it was like seeing them in 1996 again.

Saw Ghost up at the Ball Arena in Denver last fall, and it was absurdly fun.
