As of last year, Apple said that there are 1.4 billion active iPads and active iPhones.

Estimates of active Windows 10 machines are ~1 billion, according to Microsoft itself. And that's including XBox devices. Estimates also say that there are ~200 million Windows 7 systems remaining, but those numbers would not be included in "actively being patched".

Ya, but those 1.4 billion iDevices represents far fewer variations in hardware than the 200 million devices running Win7.

But the devices running Windows 7 aren't being patched or updated anymore, so like I said, they don't count.

part of that is that no one expects a MS update to go well. It's just a given that there will be issues. For some reason even the smallest of issues with apple becomes newsworthy. (yes this recent os update was especially problematic, I'm just saying the expectation of each company are not comparable)

Meanwhile I have been using Mint for over 8 years now and have yet to experience any update issues at all.
