Hewlett Packard Enterprise "says firmware bug will brick some SSDs starting in October this year".

HP issued firmware updates last week which will stop the problem. There is a list of the hard drive models affected.

Do note that this past November that HP issued a similar warning about OTHER lines of SSDs.

There was also a list of the hard drive models affected.

That sounds less like a "bug" and more like a "got caught with their hand in the planned-obsolence cookie jar" :goth:

Nah, more like a sensible order from a previous time was issued but was largely forgotten. All solid-state memory are subject to having their cells "wear out", but better tech in combination with better distribution schemes especially in SSDs can far extend that wear-out time. The order may have been issued originally for cheap USB drives which usually are not continuously running.

If something dies after 32768 hours of use, it's a programming error.

Also, Ghandi wants to nuke you.
