So apple didn't invent the term. I still don't like it.

Who wants things to be complicated?

Watch designers. A complication is a functional puzzle to solve.

nobody outside of watch enthusiasts is going to know that. Tell your grandma that her watch now has complications and she's not going to be super enthusiastic about that.

Oh blatherskite.

well, sorry, we know your grandma is that cool, but most are not

Jesus Christ, $11,000 just to have a base Mac Pro. It better be amazing even with base specs.

Looks like Apple has created a "9600" for this new century. Good for them, finally. This answers the long standing complaints about upgradability with a vengeance.
It's about time.

still won't able to buy an "Off" video card for it. so while upgradable.. they did what they could with ...

A.. propriotary video cards.

B.. A2 security. my money says it won't take a PCIe video card upgrade.

welcome back to the fenced in playground.

Well, if any of that turns out to be true that would be the maggot in the honey I mentioned earlier. Typically Apple finds a way to fiddlesticks up something that could have been good, but for an exasperating detail or two.

I think they stick fiddled it up.

I'll know more once one gets out in the wild... until then... i will just hold off and either buy one of it's truly upgradable or say fiddlesticks it and build one... and run this 2009 3.33mHz quad Mac Pro running Mojave run until it is totally dead. the one I build will be windows.
user Stupid cockwomble

Looks OK. I was turned off by the holes until I saw the detail.

$6 grand??? Eh, maybe they'll drop the trashcan prices more than a c note.

I said fiddlesticks it and converted a Levono...I need to upgrade it to Mojave but I can't get the install to start. Keep thinking how easy it would be on a Mac. Was going to get a Mac Pro from work but the corporate shithead decided to make it a company wide raffle because "it would be fair". IT didn't care, nobody else cared, now the damn thing could go to someone in shipping because, hey, it's a free PC.

We didn't buy Apple-branded monitors back in the '90s and I, for one, don't intend to start now.

Not for a grand - sheesh.

It would have to pleasure far more than my eyes at that price.
Honestly? I'm never going to be the target audience for this. My system is rocking a Ryzen 1500X, a R9 290 that I've never had a justification to replace, and 3 1080p monitors that only tax the system when I try watching three HD porn videos at once with hardware decoding. I'm the last person to say if this thing is good or not.
Did anyone else notice that the guts seem to be mirrored compared to a traditional PC?

I guess I have not been paying attention to the Xeon line-up. I was surprised to see how low the clock was on the higher core count chips.
Even weirder is that while the steady state clock is lower the "turbo Boost" (God that sounds stupid) is higher.

For the workstation chips, it's sort of a dual-purpose chip - it's intended to run faster if you just give it a simple task that only loads a couple cores (single-threaded stuff), but then dial itself back down in terms of speed so that if you load ALL of the cores, it doesn't catch fire.

The 4/6/8 core chips do the same thing (higher single-core boost speeds), just less extreme.

The new Mac pro is MONSTER of a computer that is not for everybody. You don't do hollywood blockbusters.

And the pro monitor is 32" 6K HDR, sorry XDR. Not HD, not full HD, not 4k ultra HD. Again, insane.
