After my wife cracked the display on her iPhone 6S Plus, I decided to get the display repaired. That, at least, went well. However, in the process, it seems like the speaker was damaged or not installed properly. It works, but is slightly distorted such that people are hard to understand at times.

I'm not sure if this is a readily fixable thing, or just crap luck. It is usable in speaker phone mode, but putting it to your ear is a bit rough.

Headphones would be a work around.

Yeah, I'm probably not going to mess with it. It had a pretty good run.

It is kind of a shame, though. It's otherwise in perfect working order.

Try cleaning the speaker grill. A clogged grill can make it sound crackly. I used a toothbrush on my phone, I thought I'd blown the speaker, but turns out it was just dirty.

Well this is odd. Just for giggles, I tried a Facetime audio call and the audio quality was fine. My wife sounded perfectly normal over the earpiece.

Maybe I should throw a SIM back in there and see if a software update fixed it?
