This probably deserves its own thread.

Ok, we just finished moving my wife from our shared office into a home office of her own. That meant I got my own office space, and it is decorated to MY tastes.

Here are a few pictures of the entire office, starting with a panorama.

There is a chinese horse on the left station, on the far wall is another horse and a lithograph of Napoleon's Retreat from Moscow. On the right wall are 8 uniform prints that I collected when i was stationed in Germany, and my computer station.

Here is a frontal view of the left wall and station. And my stash of Jolly Rancher candy.

Not particularly, at least relative to his contemporaries. I mean, we can't all be enlightened 21st century sorts - and it's even harder when you've been dead for 200 years.

how many of his contemporaries launched aggressive wars of conquest that killed more people than any war in history (up to that point) and left europe, particularly his own nation, in ruins and chaos?

he devoted a lot of resources to crafting the image of genius and glory, especially making use of france's talented painters, to wit:

however the vast majority of his record consists of destruction, violence and general bloodletting

In fairness to Napoleon, the SUV hadn't been invented yet, so the only way to make up for having a small penis in those days was to either have your own personal harem, or start a crusade of wars to increase the size of your empire. If only DaVinci had spent a little more time designing the automobile instead of polishing up his painting of some tart, we could have avoided the whole mess... ;)

Same human waste Louix XIV did, just on a grander scale. George III was hardly a choirboy either. France was, arguably, a mess when Napoleon found it too. Napoleon's methods were consistent with accepted practice.

The casualty numbers were over a period of at least a decade, and were essentially business as usual for the continent. Notice how many times France is on this list...

...and? Patronage of the arts is nothing new. At all. Not to double-dip, but Louis XIV basically invented ballet so he would have something to confirm how awesome he was.

I have the same desktop on another of my computers. I had to add blue to the bottom to make room for the Dock. Have to do stuff like that to a lot of desktops because they are actually "wallpapers".

Went hardware shopping in the abandoned cubicles at work. Snagged a pair of 1080p displays and a second video card.

I think it may be overdoing it a bit...

Definitely not.

Now if you had gotten three video cards and 4 monitors, then perhaps you are overdoing it.

I knew a graphic designer who had FIVE.

He was still trucking a Power Computing tower in the late 90s because it supported all that.

You know, for someone who complained so vociferously about how horrible the Finder was...

Nice OS X lookalike you have there.

I prefer a neutral gray environment which is going to tend to look similar to OSX but the looks of OSX, particularly the Finder were never an issue for me, the ten years of stagnation bothered me more.
Nemo kicks The Finder's ass as far as functionality goes.

They don't resize with the window? They're perfectly sized for me. Try a different browser...

That's a McLaren P1. I used to think it was fugly too, but then it grew on me.

Sturner's resize just fine, but yours do not.

And yes I also tried a different browser and it does the same thing there.

Hahaha! Same here, I didn't like the car until I saw it on Top Gear. Aesthetically, the backside and profile are great, but the front of the car is more miss than hit, specially with those headlights.

Well, I think it's because it looks so much better in motion, while they explain everything it can do.
