EVERY county in Nebraska with a significant meat packing plant has a high covid rate relative to counties of similar population.

It has been announced the state health authority will no longer release how many cases are related to the various meat packing plants.

I don't think a study was needed, but ok.

Stay inside. If you must go out, wear your mask, and wash your hands.

A study would actually be great, the thing you linked wasn't scientific in the slightest, a dumb human waste computer programmer and economist playing epidemeologist.

It's so easy to think because you're smart and good at your field that popping into someone else's specialist field is easy, but it's not, it's junk science. If you have a novel finding in someone else's field, one you don't understand, the thing to do is go to the experts in that field and ask "how am I wrong?" because 999 times out of a thousand, regardless of your results you've stick fiddled up the process and chosen weird unsupported assumptions the world.

Shanghai Disneyland reopens

Quote:
Mickey Mouse has returned to Disneyland: capitalism is healing.

After shutting its parks and resorts worldwide in March, Disney is starting to restart what is a core part of its business. The company is beginning with the Shanghai Disney Resort, which began admitting visitors this week for the first time since January.

The park is operating under a slew of new healthy and safety measures, though, the most significant of which is a cap on visitor numbers. A maximum of 24,000 people will be allowed to enter each day, representing around 30 percent of the park’s regular capacity.

On the ground reports suggest much fewer guests than this showed up on on the first day, and that the mood was somewhat muted, as masked visitors were greeted by costumed cast members (Disney’s term for staff) shouting welcomes in both English and Chinese.

watch yourself, guys ... it's hitting the heartland

Quote:
The 10 top areas recorded surges of 72.4 percent or greater over a seven-day period compared to the previous week, according to a set of tables produced for the task force by its data and analytics unit. They include Nashville, Tennessee; Des Moines, Iowa; Amarillo, Texas; and — atop the list, with a 650 percent increase — Central City, Kentucky.

On a separate list of "locations to watch," which didn't meet the precise criteria for the first set: Charlotte, North Carolina; Kansas City, Missouri; Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska; Minneapolis; Montgomery, Alabama; Columbus, Ohio; and Phoenix. The rates of new cases in Charlotte and Kansas City represented increases of more than 200 percent over the previous week, and other tables included in the data show clusters in neighboring counties that don't form geographic areas on their own, such as Wisconsin's Kenosha and Racine counties, which neighbor each other between Chicago and Milwaukee.

All of this relaxing and lifting of self isolation.
Researchers DOUBLE US coronavirus death forecast as curbs eased:
A newly revised coronavirus mortality model predicts nearly 135,000 Americans will die from COVID-19 by early August, almost double previous projections, as physical-distancing measures for quelling the pandemic are increasingly relaxed, according to researchers.
Doubled as in twice as many and that data ISN'T including the States that are talking/thinking about doing it, it only includes those places that have already done so... #ProfitMatters

I bet you can google that, but I don't want to do it for you, or for me, or for anybody, ever.

By the way, around here, some governors and mayors are "loosening quarantine restrictions" on their own account, and maddy isn't happy because apparently he is actually aware of how the number of people affected went back up in countries that did that. But he's the one who started talking about doing just that

Anyway, we're under attack from TWO pandemics, coronavirus, and stupid.

The internet is full of evil people praying on stupid people. And/or stupid people are very clever sometimes.

The Internet Archive is warning users about debunked ‘zombie’ coronavirus misinformation

WORST HEADLINE EVER

Coronavirus DOES NOT turn anyone into a zombie. Article is NOT about that.

The article is about how some websites are deleting false information about covid19, as they should, but the internet archive keeps those deleted pages, and stupid people are using that to promote their conspiracies and human waste. So the stupid headline is calling "zombie coronavirus information", to any false information deleted from the original source and found on the archive.

Study Shows Cannabis May Block COVID-19 Infection

:stoned:

Quote:
Although promising results, the researchers say that their findings are yet to be peer-reviewed and so can not be taken as conclusive evidence of cannabis’s ability to treat the virus. In the meantime however, they have said that they hope that their findings, if proven significant, may be able to inform further research to develop easy-to-use therapeutics to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

That's not illegal in Wisconsin

human waste, it's not even illegal for the kid to drink here as long as their parents order it. And no, I'm not making a joke.

I drove past a bar at 4pm today on the way home from my parents and the parking lot was packed.

I'm perfectly happy with my local bartender. He doesn't talk back and the prices are great. Free food and I don't have to drive home. (My house. I'm talking about my house.)

That ruling was so stupid even one of former governor Walker's appointed lackeys on the court voted against it.
Well I'm not even considering opening my shop until June 1st. That is 13 days later than the province has allowed.
I'm hoping that is enough time for the system to determine if a relapse will happen. I'm almost certain it will anyway if people get over-excited about going out and just start living as if the last two months never happened.

Whatever happened to that Apple/Google contact tracing app? Did it even get off the ground?
