Outbreak of Coronavirus
Iran says bend over and die citizens we don't want to give money to western powers to save you. Their supreme leader has banned the country from importing US & Britain Covid-19 vaccines so that leave only the Sputnik V vaccine from Russia or the CoronaVac one from China, both which have not gone through and published Phase III trial information for their vaccines.

Its easy to know what you are against, quite an honour to know what you are for.
Re: Outbreak of Coronavirus
If Ontario continues the lockdown into February or beyond I will have to lay off my staff again. The system for that is quite streamlined for me and my staff so it needn't be a hardship. It is literally a few clicks on a government website.
It's customers who complain most. I've turned the ringers off on my phones. People just don't seem to get it. There is a serious disconnect in our society between what is essential and what isn't, and between understanding one's own interests vs acceptable risk.

Despite the talk of how cynical the business-at-all-cost ethos is, where I live, it is business that can and does get shut down or curtailed. It is the non-business side of our lives, I think, which is more open to abuse, carelessness and cynicism. We lack subtle, measured and effective mechanisms in our societies to deal with that. The exception are businesses that most directly serve the social-heavy leisure and hospitality aspect of our lives like restaurants, theatre, hotels, airlines etc. Those businesses are stick fiddled and we need to either prop them up through subsidy in the long term or decide that not only are they non-essential, but dangerous.
What do we do with ourselves? How do we live on a planet that no longer yields and is fighting back?

the answer is in your blind spot: leadership
many countries have kept infections low because their leaders actually led
we have given up on the very concept of leadership ... in your case it's not even a blip on the radar

Another positive test at work. This was found during mandatory testing die to the distinction given to us by Cal Osha as an "Outbreak Site".

Animals Can Get COVID-19, Too
Can animals give the coronavirus to humans?
Not usually. The dogs, cats, and zoo animals who have COVID seem to have picked it up from people, not the other way around.
But the mink are different. Mink in European fur farms caught the coronavirus, passed it to each other, and were apparently able to infect humans. The Danish government, noting that mutations traced to mink were present in at least a dozen human cases of COVID, ordered that all farmed mink in the country be killed.

Yes, the Pandemic Is Ruining Your Body
I’m not a huge fan of the gym and much prefer to incorporate movement and exercise into my daily routine. But that’s hard to do when you’re rarely leaving your house and it’s dark and icy out after work. I finally broke down and bought a small treadmill just to try and increase my daily movements.

I got a treadmill and have been trying to get back in shape. Yeah, it's nuts how much I let my body slide over the last year.

Re: Outbreak of Coronavirus
Keep Your Mask on When You Sneeze
The purpose of wearing your mask is to keep your personal respiratory droplets out of the air that other people may breathe. If you need to sneeze—a phenomenon that expels a large goddamn number of respiratory droplets—here is what you need to do:
Keep the mask on
Sneeze into your elbow or a tissue (through the mask)
If the inside of your mask is now unbearably gross, change your damn mask.

Actually, over the last 13 months, I've been lifting weights every morning. I added squats a few months ago, and I am hoping to add running soon.Malkin posted wrote: Yes, the Pandemic Is Ruining Your Body

Re: Outbreak of Coronavirus
boris johnson says the new strain could be more deadly as well as more communicable
it hasn't been confirmed yet, but this turns it into a race between vaccination and infection (it seems the vaccine still works on the new strains)
current data has it at around 50% more lethal
