5 bulls found dead in Oregon; then the story gets weird
Quote:
SALEM, Ore. — The first dead bull was found in a timbered ravine in eastern Oregon. There was no indication it had been shot, attacked by predators or eaten poisonous plants. The animal's sex organs and tongue had been removed. All the blood was gone.

Meh.

I mean that seriously.

While humans usually are very picky eaters when they can be, microbial life and scavengers aren't nearly so but even they can be lazy. While the sex organs (probably including in this case the anus and the lower intestine but maybe those haven't been noticed yet just because of general distaste) and the mouth/face may be considered delicacies in weird-to-Americans cultures, and while those parts are in particular protected specifically because those areas are where most of the intake and "out-take" happens, these cow ain't alive no more so more and more of their anti-bacterial defenses go down the longer they are dead. The lower intestine is more likely to go first because every mammal already has a wide culture of bacteria inside.

The scavengers will learn--if they haven't yet done so--that trying to get past a cow's thick hide ain't worth their time if they lack strong jaws and longer canines that the top predators have, so they go for these soft targets of opportunity.

At least they aren't saying it's aliens, and it's definitely gotta be a cult. All they have to do is get video cameras installed somewhere after 50 years of this.
