More measles due to "Avengers: Endgame" premiere

Post by DEyncourt »

Well, only indirectly.

According to the story in the LA Times, a young woman had traveled to an unspecified country which is currently having a measles outbreak "earlier this year" (note that typically after a person becomes infected with measles that the initial incubation period lasts 10-12 days after which there is a 7-10 day period when measles becomes infectious to others--this is when the measles rash USUALLY happens but this does not happen in all cases--so I am guessing around the start of April).

It is not (yet) known if she had been vaccinated (and, of course, sometimes--about 3% of cases--vaccinations do not work).

She went to see "Avengers: Endgame" at the midnight showing at a specific theater in Fullerton starting at 11 pm on April 25th, but apparently it took until the morning of April 27th before more obvious symptoms like the rash appeared when she was taken to a hospital emergency room.

Health officials are attempting to trace her whereabouts during her possible infectious period to further warn people who were in her vicinity to look out for measles for themselves and especially for anyone else like infants who could not be vaccinated.
