Brace yourselves, "resident evil zombie pink dinosaurs" are coming...

or probably none of that will happen

World's first gene-edited lizards

Image

Although they're commonly known as brown anoles, there are now four Anolis sagrei lizards at a University of Georgia lab that are actually a pale pink color. They're albinos, and are the result of what is reportedly the world's first successful attempt at producing a genetically modified reptile. The research could have implications for human medicine.

the research could lead to improved treatments for eye problems in humans. While tyrosinase is required for eye development in both people and anoles, it isn't present in commonly-studied animals such as mice. Now, it's possible that anoles could be utilized in ocular health studies.

Israeli private Moon landing failed

https://www.theverge.com/2019/4/11/1830 ... -shut-down

A tiny robotic lander from Israel attempted to touch down on the Moon this afternoon, but it ultimately failed to stick the landing during its final descent to the surface. As it was firing its main engine to land on the ground, some kind of failure occurred, causing the engine to shut down. The mission team got the engine back online, but could not regain communication with the spacecraft, which means the lander likely crashed into the surface.

Amazing stuff. And they did it on the second launch of the platform. Which was carrying a commercial payload. Reallly amazing stuff.

bad news, they did land the center core, but the sea was too rough and it later fell over :(

Ok, you photoshopped in that black monolith, didn't you?

Holy crap, it's actually there: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-spac ... SKCN1RT11S

“I am very excited to be here,” said a 13-year-old student from Jinchang. “We saw the monolith, a crater and a cave. It’s better than the Mars that I had imagined.”

In the 1968 science fiction film “2001: A Space Odyssey”, a mysterious black monolith appears before a tribe of man-apes in the African savannah in one of the most memorable scenes in Western movie history.

I do find it amazing that the Chinese may have built Biosphere III, but this time actually doing it right. I wish the US were still interested in this sort of thing. :(

Nah. It's a science centre mocked up to look like a Mars base, not a self sufficient biosphere.

Indeed.

But it's just a simple graphic comparing the two technologies.

And you know it.
