New images of Ultima Thule got New Horizons scientists to reasses the object's shape:

Image

Still a contact binary, but they lack a model that can explain Ulitima Thule's current shape.

One pancake-like object is Atlas:

Image

but Atlas' shape is likely due to the accumulation of debris from Saturn's rings which has "fallen downhill" to the moon's equator. Atlas is in orbit just outside of Saturn's A-ring.

This fellow is familiar, I remember him and guys like him from Art History class (iirc he is a lower level member of the political class). It was done in one of the periods of political instability.
During these times, the art became considerably less stylized and became more natural and "real". Instead of depicting people in an idealized fashion, they would be depicted far closer to their actual appearance.

That moment when you get lost on The Moon

Astronaut Edgar D. Mitchell, Apollo 14 Lunar Module pilot, moves across the lunar surface as he looks over a traverse map during extravehicular activity. Lunar dust can be seen clinging to the boots and legs of the space suit. - February 6, 1971

Next time, astronauts will just use google maps on their [space]phone.

conspiracy theorists believe that fuzz is proof the moon secretly has an atmosphere, but scientists say that electrostatic charges lift lunar dust off the surface

conspiratoids also believe the moon is hollow, an artificial satellite (it's exactly the right distance and size to create perfect solar eclipses, that's no accident!) and oh yeah dotted with ancient alien structures

i guess reality is just too boring

nice pic, tho

I believe that picture was taken with a telescope, or a big telephoto lens, so that glow around the moon would be caused by Earth's atmosphere.

"Electrostatic charges"? I don't think the moon has a magnetic field, but maybe solar wind does something?

But finding transformers, or a black monolith, or a nazi moonbase would be nice, I guess.

why haven't we found aliens?

because the universe is incomprehensible big

and we can't even see all that's in front of us
Yes but even given our limited understanding there should be other civilizations to find within our detectable range. So there's apparently something important wrong with the Drake Equation.

Why? it had fewer asteroids. The power required to make the asteroids rotate meant they couldn't have as many. It was the more trippy, relaxing version of Asteroids. Plus you had a shield instead of a hyperspace.
