1 day of Brahma == 4.32 billion human years (i.e. 1000 Maha-yuga).

It's the Melon. It's a big sac of whale oil that works as a transducer to generate ultrasonic vibrations used in echolocation.

The beluga is unique in that it can change the shape of its melon at will by moving air around its sinus cavities.

Echolocation is an oversimplified term. You get the idea that the whales squeak, and then hear the echo as it bounces off something.
But my experience with ultrasound in medicine has shown me that, IMHO, the whales can "see" this way. Their big brains can process those signals like a computer on an ultrasound machine, and they don't just register "fish to port, 10 meters", they actually "See" the fish, possibly in color; and not only see it but can see through it.
They can see the fetus in a pregnant human. They can see the fetus in another pregnant whale.
In the depths of the ocean where there is no light, the echolocation is just like vision.

Leptocephalus

Quote:
This large size leptocephalus must be a species of Muraenidae (moray eels), and probably the larva of a long thin ribbon eel, which is metamorphosing, not feeding, and is entering shallow water to finish metamorphosis into a young eel. (Larva identified by Michael J. Miller) Leptocephali are the unusual transparent larvae of eels and their close relatives. Because they are transparent they are so hard to spot and are hardly ever sighted. We were lucky enough to see one of them!! Filmed by Barry Haythorne and Rob Rutgers, HRF U/W Production
