Nice going, Harry...
A couple of stories about enhancing low-grade pictures.

Computer technique attempts to recreate details from low-resolution pictures.

Example: degraded version.................................restoration..........................................original

Demo of system which significantly improves getting info from low-lighting photography.

Example using 1/30th-second exposure times:

There is also a YouTube video at the link showing other examples.

So not quite this from Adult Swim.
New map of 1.7 billion stars allows researcher to find at least one white dwarf which is moving too fast to have originated in the Milky Way.

It is moving at 2.4 times the escape velocity for the Milky Way and is thought to have originated in the Large Magellanic Cloud.

Here is the Bad Astronomer on that map created by the European Space Agency's Gaia mission to map stars in the Earth's sky. As he titled that linked article: "This is not a photo of the night sky":

Now all those CSI, Law & Order, NCIS episodes where they say enhance an image might actually be plausible.
Law and Order doesn't really do that.

As an aside, imagine that thing paired to a VR system allowing a human operator to drive it. We might get mechs after all, just not with operators inside them.
ukimalefu want, but shouldn't, may anyway

Doesn't look like much, but apparently Hubble captured a supernova turning into a black hole.

And what are they calling it? a "Massive Fail". Must have been those damn millennial scientists.

I mean, two of the most powerful things in the universe, a supernova and a black hole... a massive fail.

It's because maurvir linked to an mp4 as if it was an img, and that doesn't work here.

Except Safari, again, is broken, because it displays mp4 input within img tags(which is totally not supposed to be allowed), encouraging people to post things in a way that makes them not display in other browsers and which people using other browsers can't even click to see.

So I guess I'll add something to the stylesheet so that it doesn't display in Safari, either.

[img] is only for gif, png, and jpg. "mp4" needs to be posted by itself or within [url] tags.

Funnily enough, Safari will display the mp4 as an image(although by the HTML standard it's not supposed to), but because it is an mp4 it won't allow me to apply styles to it other than to hide it. But people using other browsers will get a notification that that's what was done.
