That is a very pretty plane. We've got a Blackbird and Shuttle Endeavor mounted outside the California Science Center in South Central LA. They're awesome up close.

Here's Endeavor coming in for a landing at LAX before being set up at the Science Center.

This Blackbird is the A-12 version.

i remember being at expo '86 when an sr-71 flew low over the crowd ... i thought my ribs were going to shatter from the roar of the engines; i even tried screaming to see if i'd be able to hear it (i couldn't)

I got to see Atlantis at the Kennedy Space Centre, and an SR-71 at the Seattle Museum of Flight. I want to go back to the SMF because they have the Shuttle Trainer there, and if you book ahead you can take a tour through it and see how tiny the Shuttle really was inside.

He must have another bag with his big telephoto in it. I can’t imagine a pro would try to shoot winter sports with only a 70-200.

315 is still short for shooting most outdoor sports. There’s a reason you see so many 600mm lenses on the sidelines at football games (both European and handegg)

maybe the photographer is only attending a particular set of sports that won't benefit from a long lens

That reminds me of Nevada. Roads heading to Lake Mead looked just that barren and there was indeed a lake and fishing at the end of it. ;)

That is a road not too far from Pyramid Lake in northern Nevada's high desert. I think that road was still in Nevada, but on that trip we took dirt roads from the lake all the way back into California.

More photos from the trip are here, including a panoramic I was really happy with.

"While she neglected and abused her small children, she refused to allow anyone else to care or show compassion towards them. When they became adults she stalked and tortured anyone they dared to love. Everyone she met, adult or child was tortured by her cruelty and exposure to violence, criminal activity, vulgarity, and hatred of the gentle or kind human spirit," the obituary read.

"On behalf of her children whom she so abrasively exposed to her evil and violent life, we celebrate her passing from this earth and hope she lives in the afterlife reliving each gesture of violence, cruelty, and shame that she delivered on her children. Her surviving children will now live the rest of their lives with the peace of knowing their nightmare finally has some form of closure,"
