They've got better things to do at 5 o'clock than gawk at every stupid thing on the street they pass by.

They only see them from the back. They probably don't know it's Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan.

Here's an interview with the photographer. http://www.thestory.org/
It's really interesting. Seems he got the job just like Joker did; He'd done some editorials for his high-school newspaper, so the Army gave him a camera and told him to take pictures.
The cool part is when he talks about all these negatives sitting in a box in his attic, until somebody convinced him to digitize them.

it still boggles the mind to think of taking people and equipment from the us, hauling it to the other side of the planet, setting up a vast infrastructure of roads, airports, seaports, bases and supply lines, waging one of the most intense wars in human history, then just kind of ... leaving

these photos are great because they put a real human face on it, though mostly from the american side ... there are lots of neat images from the evil commie side as well

i just wish people would remember vietnam not as a noble crusade that tragically failed (or maybe they just remember it as a noble crusade), and instead use it as an object lesson, never to be forgotten, about the horrific cruelty and utter futility of war

but of course i guess it's just not in enough people's self-interest to hate war

"Scientists seek the lawfulness of events"? What a crock. Herbert went off the deep end on the Dune series. I tried to read the entire set one summer and only got a headache.

Because 'murica, I gotta have the biggest gun I can find, not that I'm overcompensating for anything.

The sign should also say "and hold that human waste TIGHT"

I was watching Auction Hunters the other day, and they found a Magnum 500. Dirty Harry's 44 wasn't enough for some people.

I fired a buddy's 454 Casull just once. He had custom loads. Custom as in high powder charges. I held it tight enough. However the damn thing bruised the inside of my hand. I'm not going to use something like that. I'll flinch too much and miss.
