On a related note, about a month ago while riding down the escalator, my 6-year old daughter spied a shiny penny in the corner of the step and stooped down to pick it up.
If anyone was wondering who that mean man was talking loudly to a crying little girl at Columbus Circle--it was me.
And Proteus brought the upright beast into the garden and chained him to a tree and the children did make sport of him.

Whale breaching off Redono Beach today. This is part of their semi-annual migration. The 'mountains' behind the whale in this picture is likely one of the Channel Islands, perhaps Santa Catalina Island.
