IIRC, those were cartridge expansion ports, which were essentially extensions of the CPU bus. That box could be storage, or it could have been some fancy video adapter, etc.

Agreed, I can understand why though That's a huge amount of weight in one of those units.

Agreed, I can understand why though That's a huge amount of weight in one of those units.

Aftermarket tilting stands were available, cheap, and common. Similar to the stands that ended up coming as optional with the much larger and heavier eMac.
