i remember when schools spent truly insane sums on those things then left them in storerooms collecting dust

they cost the equivalent of $3-4k, way more expensive than tech nowadays

although i guess schools are buying more of them nowadays so yeah

and don't get me started on smartboards

The problem with Smartboards (and, more recently, Surface Hubs) is that once you have the tech in place, you still need to completely revamp how you do everything to use the damn things effectively. Nobody is willing to do that. Nobody wants to hire a full time person to develop/adapt content to new formats, and nobody wants to pay teachers to retrain on the latest fads every year or three.

Also, Apple killed the iPad in education with their licensing polices. stick fiddling suicide.

The train station in Westchester County, New York, was shut down while a suspicious unattended package was investigated. When it gets fully installed, the device would automatically connect the user to an emergency call line for reporting suspicious packages.
