And I still think this one looked super futuristic, like some kind of Borg module or something.

Maybe if they could make one that floated in a transparent tube like that

I'm thinking more like eight years of music, after that it was just human waste.

Man, I remember when MTV came out and it was really great. Their programing was way more like what FM radio was at the time and MTV would break new music instead of playing like a top 40 am station would. Late night MTV was the best, idiosyncratic Vjs who played what they wanted to play and the novelty of music videos made it all quite the thing.
For the first few years MTV had a very low budget almost pirate radio ethos. Then they started running commercials and it was all down hill from there.

And one of their VJs is now on Fox and is a huge right-wing idiot.

That Cobra stuff was really high end gear back then. For car gear it was pretty much the most expensive brand you could buy. Way more than Sony, Panasonic or even Craig.

My dad had a TA back around '80 and it had a Submarine battle game that I got really into for awhile. It had really engaging, complex game-play. The graphics were super bare-bones but the game was really fun once you understood the rules.
I remember that the anti-piracy measure built into the game was it would require you to look up something in the printed manual and type it in to prove you owned the game.
