One hopes, but green usually means diesel.

Around here, ethanol usually has a yellow hose.

It's not looking good. Apparently there is an effort to save the bell tower, but the wood is so old and dry that there is some concern it's going to spread regardless. That, and if it goes, any firefighters inside the cathedral would be in severe danger.

Tremendously sad.

I recall taking Medieval Art History and studying the evolution of the gothic cathedral --we always referred to them --particularly the french ones-by their city's name (St. Denis, Chartres, Reims, etc) as they were all "Notre Dame".

Paris was something of THE pinnacle of the style, with a stained glass Rose of mind-boggling beauty.

Once could imagine themselves as a serf or something entering such a place 1,100 years ago--it would be the house of God and the architecture and the art and the beautiful colored light would underline that point to you like nothing else. If it is awe-inspiring now, imagine what it would have looked like to people then
And Proteus brought the upright beast into the garden and chained him to a tree and the children did make sport of him.

I found it interesting that they did not have access to equipment tall enough to reach the top of the spire. Is that because it wouldn’t fit in the area due to the narrow streets, or because the largest city in France doesn’t have the proper equipment?

What kind of artwork (historic artists?) was painted inside the building, were their murals on the walls and ceilings?
Its easy to know what you are against, quite an honour to know what you are for.
