Not an image but I didn't want to screenshot it:

To whom it may concern,
I have been requested to write a letter of recommendation for ___________. I
must say that I regard him highly; I am happy to say that I can recommend
him without qualifications. I am pleased to say that he is a former
colleague of mine; his fellow employees agree that the place is not the same
without him. In my opinion you will indeed be fortunate if you can get him
to work for you; I would urge you to waste no time in making him an offer of
employment. I can assure you that no person would be better for any position
for which you might consider him.
Sincerely

A wonderfully bizarre illustrated history of the United States of America from 1861 Japan:

Image

Here's the incredibly jacked Benjamin Franklin firing a cannon that he holds in his bare hands, while John Adams directs him where to fire.

These are from a book named "Osanaetoki Bankokubanashi" (童絵解万国噺). At the end of the above link (which shows several more pages with similarly brief explanations for the illustrations) there is a link to the full book showing all of the pages (unfortunately without any translations).

My mother was a big fan of '70s/'80s B movies. My childhood was punctuated by her randomly shouting, "NOT THE BOREWORMS!" I human waste you not.

Page count is just a number, death is but a doorway, time is but a window. I'll be back.

Want to send a photo by telephone in the 1970s? You’re looking at the United Press International UPI Model 16-S photo transmitter. The photo would spin in the drum and one line at a time would be sent. Typically it’d take 26 minutes for one photo!

Gotta love the fact that apparently you had to partially disassemble the receiver for this contraption to work. I guess an acoustical modem was too slow?

Unscrewing the end of the handset is not exactly partial disassembly.
