One thing, tho; in the animation in the upper left corner, there is the symbol for Aries.
What is that supposed to indicate? (or is that what that is at all?)
Sorry, I don't know why they use that symbol.

Yeah, that is as big an omission as you can get.

Also: Jacques Cousteau?
He was a real kick-ass individual (I grew up on his shows/films), but he never called himself an oceanographer or scientist. He definitely promoted oceanography and worked with scientists, but it'd be really hard to call him one.

Unfortunately, these people weren't alive during the 20th century. I had to draw the line somewhere, and the 20th century was it. This was motivated partly by the fact that a lot of the figures would have similar attire, which made the job more manageable, and partly because I began the project pretty aimlessly by creating a bunch of people who were coincidentally alive during the 20th century, so it ended up being a convenient rule to follow.

Where's Bill Nye?
Bill was on my list of people to create figures of. I didn't get around to it. I had intended this "collection" to have 50 figures in it, but I had other commitments, ran out of time, and put it together with only 30. Bill Nye is awesome, and he'll be included if there's ever a Volume II.

Aries is traditionally the first zodiacal sign, so I think that the symbol there is showing that astrological sign's position relative to that polar projection of the Earth-Moon system. You will note that when noon on Earth coincides with that Aries symbol the time of the year is late March (when, traditionally, the Sun is in the "house" of Aries from March 21 to April 19. With the procession of the equinoxes the Sun actually is in the house of Aries from about mid-April to mid-May).

The Aries symbol denotes the first point of Aries which is used as a reference point in astronomy and celestial navigation. There's a reference angle between Aries and the prime meridian. Add the sidereal hour angle of a celestial body to the greenwich hour angle of Aries and you have the greenwich hour angle of the body.

It's useful as the first point of aries moves in relation to the earth at a fixed rate of one revolution every 23h56m04s.

Thinking about the amount of sugar in that, all I can think is it'd be one hell of a hangover.

I have a friend who would play a drinking game with swedish fish and a bottle of vodka. You drop the fish in the vodka and then drink until you get the fish. Repeat.
