There is a YouTube video (in Arabic) at the link showing a commercial for the Nova 3 which clearly the above picture is taken from (the account is for that actress in the commercial).

Do note that there is nothing in the male actor's hand.

Of course not. Had he been holding a phone, it would have shown up in the picture... :squint:

Not necessarily. The DSLR camera is offset just enough that the position of the man's arm within that camera's frame implied that he was taking a selfie.

But that lack of a Nova 3 in his hand makes clear that at least this portion of the commercial did not use that smartphone at all.

Is anybody really surprised though? I mean, I don't expect a professionally done commercial to be shot with a smartphone, arm position or not. I expect to be told a narrative/story, and that's it.

A lot of handset vendors actually do use their own handsets. Made with iPhone, for example, uses only iPhone cameras. Now, they do spruce them up with bolt-on lenses and a bit of retouching, but you could theoretically make those same pictures if you owned an iPhone (and some bolt-on lenses). While Samsung has been busted in a few markets doing this, they generally also use their own handsets for such marketing in the US and Europe. The trick is, their cameras don't suck.

As a general rule, though, you aren't wrong.

One of the more subtle and effective ads I have seen recently is a series of iPhone ads I saw in a NYC subway platform, of about 6-8 different B&W self portraits blown up to about 24 X 36, apparently done with an iPhone.

I'd be lying if I didn't immediately take notice of how crappy my camera on my HTC phone is.

Wanna know who at least in part responsible for this? PETA.

so PETA is all in favor of a new picture where the animals are segregated and in a zoo versus all being friends out in the wild.

OK
looks legit.

The animals are much safer standing next to the lion.

The old carton was made to look like a circus wagon. (there were even cut lines on it to stand it up on the wheels)

Facebook is taking your most "favorited" images and has added animated characters to them:

In this particular case this man had such added to his pic of the gravesite of his mother (I think parents, but I'm guessing that the poster mentioned only his mother because she had been recently buried there at the time the original pic was taken).

Maybe, but technically, it isn't a mouse :p

I've only used, very little, the trackpad in a macbook. I guess it takes some getting used to it, but I'm not a fan. But it's A LOT better, FAR better, than the trackpad in my father's samsung laptop.

IMHO, the best mouse alternative was Kensington's turbo mouse trackball.

Oooh, Darth Vader's trackball. Looks nice, but I'm not a fan of the red ball, they should offer choices, they have black and blue in other models. I wonder if a pool ball would work.

I found some options
