This is why you use a stud finder and make sure every bolt (not screw) hits one.

When I put my wall mount up, I made sure I could nearly do pull-ups with it before putting the TV up.

They make toggle bolts that can support over 100 lbs each in 1/2" drywall. If studs are difficult to hit, those make a good alternative.

But this looks more like they glued the mount or something, as the drywall broke right around the footprint of the mount. If they just used screws or wimpy anchors into the drywall, the drywall wouldn't have broken.

You can see the screws at the corners, which is why the drywall broke out like it did.
