Yeah, but scratches due to moving furniture (especially chairs), things just falling on that floor....
...add character. Good wood floors can just get screened and recoated unless they are REALLY bad, and even then, if you get the right professional to refinish, you can sand it down maybe 5 times.

the regular panettone I don't really like

I thought that was the same, or very similar to, what you americans call "fruit cake". And to me panettone is a xmas/holidays/december thing.
