An 80 year old woman was killed outside my old workplace. We we located right next to a highway off-ramp and it looks like she drove down it instead the on-ramp.
It was a very load collision.
yikes

I nearly had this happen once myself in Mississippi on US-72. In hindsight, I now believe that the woman's driveway was just up the road on the "wrong" side and she didn't want to go to the trouble of circling around, but it scared the absolute crap out of me. I nearly hit her head-on, and I actually stopped for a minute to listen for a wreck in case I needed to back and help. Fortunately, all the cars that had been behind me crested the hill, so I guess she made it.

it's a good thing I actually read the article. At first I only saw "mars" and "dinosaurs". Imagined the movie and everything: "Dinosaurs from Mars"

Um, actually most of those smaller disorganized buildings were the slums.
Of course this was when there wasn't anything that we would recognize as a middle class or a lower-end upper class. Ancient Rome consisted of what WE would call the top 1% of the top 1% (i.e., most of those names that people had heard of in history classes), but everyone else was in a barely above poverty class or below. The relatively rare up-and-comers of ancient Rome (nearly all military leaders) were absorbed into that miniscule elite class by marriage/adoption or were killed or became the new elites by killing at least some if not all of the old.
