The Random Image Thread (keeping it PG-13 at the worst)
that story is the talk of the town right now
most people seem to think she's an annoying pita who deserves jail time
personally i'm trying to imagine the transition from crane arm to cable (and that shimmy down!!!) and crapping my pants

Ah the 70's, Heineken in cans and a cigarette in every mouth.
Not even duct tape will fix stupid, but it can muffle the sound.

Start cruising garage sales. Often bags of Lego can be picked up for just a few bucks. Unless you want complete sets. Then you are out of luck

I'm sorry Dave...

i actually saved the lego i had as a kid so i had a bit of a head start
second, there are cheaper sets you can get and they do add up after awhile
third, you can get lego sets that are just assorted pieces and they're quite reasonable
fourth, made-in-china knockoffs on ebay and aliexpress are your friend
finally, if you have access to a 3-d printer you can print out funky pieces using free templates
you're a dad now, gotta learn how to work the system

Actually, other than their typically smaller size, some of the non-Lego blocks and kits here are pretty impressive. Not the actual knock-offs (Space Wars, Ninga, Iron Fighter), but the competing products. Nano Blocks is probably the main local brand, and I have seen some cool kits, in particular their Taiwan High Speed Rail train kit and some of their various local and international landmarks. That brand is particular prone to small sizes and kits though. I think there's a local brand for larger things, more directly competitive with Legos.
And the knockoffs, well they are just hilarious!

Some Russians in a junk yard forgot they were pumping up a 3-ton tire:

Do note the dog that went running off from near the other car near the top left corner.
No one was injured, but a secretary who worked at that junk yard will be out of a car for a while.
ADD: you can't see it in the GIF since it cuts just short of being able to see it, but the tire burst through a hole about the size of a driver's wheel in a car on the side of the tire on the ground (that black side facing up at the end).

Lock Blocks are the one I remember from childhood. I use to love me some Lego...used to visit Lego world at The Emporium 5x a year. I had the first Moon Landing space set. I'm glad I got over that ripoff BS. Erector Set FTW.
Remember, people, to forgive is divine. In other words, it ain't human.
