Hahah mcmansions.

Bolt it to a stud or don't bolt it.
The colors, floor, doors and fireplace in the house look nearly identical to one of my neighbor's homes. I did a double take to verify the floor layout was just different enough it was clear it wasn't their place. I'll have to email them this pic. ;)

They need to put a proper mount on the wall with four lag bolts all hitting studs. When I hung our 47" in, I made sure I dead centered the studs, and I can practically climb the wall with that mount.

TVs aren't that heavy. You can mount them fine using Heavy-duty toggle bolts.

Mounting it on the mantle is so stick fiddling moronic.

for the "tools as art" person

Starting at $2600!
Yeah, fiddlesticks that. Tools are tools. I want something that costs just enough to be great quality, but still not enough to break the bank.

Com'on, Mav. There's GOT to be a story with this one.
I think they look fake. The reproduction is too perfect to be something from antiquity.

I believe they're real, as in real carved bones, but not antique, some guy just makes them.

Yeah, they are made by an artist who turns discarded medical specimens into pseudo-antiques like this. I'd post the link, but it's blocked at work.

Emily Lakdawalla on the damage to Curiosity's wheels:

Image

So: not unexpected though a bit faster when compared to wear and tear that happened to Spirit and Opportunity.
Quote:
The good news is that a better choice of terrain can substantially prolong expected wheel lifetime. [Project Manager Jim] Erickson told me that they tested wheels on a wide variety of terrains, and came up with the following lifetimes. Keep in mind that these are conservative estimates, because there were no rover drivers working to steer around pointy rocks -- this assumes blind driving over all the worst rocks.

• Bedrock with lots of rocks: ~8 kilometers
• Lots of rocks, not on bedrock: 13-14 kilometers
• Bedrock with few rocks (think flagstones): 30-40 kilometers or more
• Smooth or sandy, with few or no rocks: indeterminate (causes no damage)
