Yeah, the talk I attended back in December about surface processes on Pluto depicted water ice as the bedrock, while nitrogen ice is much more fluid and behaves like water would on earth. It sublimates and is deposited on the highlands, then flows down to the basin in Tombaugh Regio. Pretty neat stuff.

The Bad Astronomer is a bigger nerd than you or me:

As part of the campaign that the Smithsonian held for the restoration of Neil Armstrong's moon suit, Plait asked that he be allowed to take a look at the restoration of the USS Enterprise model and the staff agreed. He got to take this short video.

About 100,000 travelers stranded at Guangzhou’s main railway train station in China:

Image

Ironically, these people were trying to get a jump over the traffic jam expected this COMING weekend due to people "going home" for the Chinese New Year celebration.

Vin Diesel played Groot. Where the fiddlesticks is Vin Diesel in that picture?

Also where's Bradley Cooper? This picture is really letting me down.
The visuals don't hold up.

That is Krystian Godlewski.
"Krystian Godlewski portrayed the character on set, though his acting was not used in the final character CGI."

Vin Diesel did the voice and motion capture.
