Recall Tabby's Star?
Further analysis of Tabby's Star finds more weird dimming behavior dating back to 1890. Astronomers looked back at old photographic plates and have found that between 1890 and 1989 that this same star had dimmed about 20% overall between those years.

Ah, the Bad Astronomer provided this graphic showing the dimming of Tabby's Star over time:

The grey "stars" are showing the brightness of two other nearby stars on those same photographic plates to demonstrate that Tabby's Star was behaving differently. Remember that magnitude is a logarithmic scale so that change from about 12.30 to about 12.45 represents an overall loss in brightness of about 20%.

You can see undramatized versions of the graphs that were given above here and at the links through my posts there.
BTW: KIC 8462852 == Tabby's Star. The latter is an informal name taken from the name of the lead scientist--Tabetha Boyajian--studying the star.
