If a boat is a hole in the water you throw money in, do you really want your ship to come in?
"1,200-year-old Viking sword discovered by hiker"

That age is only an estimate since there is nothing remaining on the blade that might accurately date it (the leather for the grip and maybe the sheath having rotted away completely).

Also with that larger blade back that far, all the rapier user would have to do is avoid the initial slash and then run him through.
Awful form on both their parts, though this is merely a GIF.

"Tolkien's annotated map of Middle-earth discovered inside copy of Lord of the Rings"

There are also other annotations inside the book implying that Hobbiton was on the same latitude as Oxford, UK, and that Belgrade, Cyprus, and Jerusalem were some location-inspirations. Some of it is mixed with notations made by the owner of the book, Pauline Baynes, who was an illustrator who did some illustrations for later editions of Lord of the Rings and worked with Tolkien towards making those. On the other hand the notes in green ink and some in pencil on the above map are definitely Tolkien's.
The annotated map will be placed on sale for £60,000 in Oxford by the store which discovered it.
