The problem with the uncanny valley is ALWAYS in animation and mostly with eyes. They never get the eyes right.

I did not know until yesterday that the F-89 was ever a thing, or that the F-82 ever made it past prototype stage.

Weird to think we could build a thousand planes, use them for ten years, and then scrap them.

well hell, think of the many thousands of warplanes built since the early 40s up until the 80s or so ... how many remain? the bulk have been scrapped

Well, yeah. But the number and diversity of models is what gets me.

Then again, they were basically an engine strapped to an airframe. Not nearly as complex.
