The Coke crap is fresh from the horse, but there are good reasons to limit consumption of soft drinks.

I rarely drink them myself, and the last time I tried a Coke I thought my tongue was going to mutiny.

Having nearly stopped drinking them a while back, I can hardly tolerate most soft drinks now. They are WAY too sweet, and I've actually gotten to where I prefer just drinking filtered water. I do sweeten hot tea and coffee, though.

I hardly ever drink pop. I can do months in between glasses.

The current forecast has it pretty well clear by Sunday, as I understand it, and a hit on Taiwan is still officially only a 50% probability at best.

The tree fell over and the roots were all on the surface, pulling up the turf.
That happens when people irrigate frequently and lightly. That's a known problem. One is supposed to irrigate only a few times a week and for a long time, so the water seeps deeply. That encourages trees and bushes to put down deep roots.
Also some trees just have surface roots. Redwoods in California are notorious for this, and falling over with a tremendous crash. I've no idea about that particular tree.

They were just about to sweep the street's trash under there (the trash is behind the person who took the pic)

A near miss will take out power lines, possibly knock trees down on runways or merely cause some flights to be delayed or rerouted. Why not entirely avoid the risk and change your flight plan now?
