Neat idea, but no way that photo looks that way, all the images are pristine without any distortion from the water.

Agreed. Look at the crispness of the "reflection" of sail planes of the sub and compare it to the wavering image of the poles overlapping the sub.

On a supremely calm day, under the right light, and from the perfect angle, it would look pretty cool.

The rest of the time the building would look really odd. All sorts of people would tilt their heads trying to understand it.

Not even interesting. I am far from a Photoshop expert but even I could have made that chop look more realistic.

While I'm not thrilled about cramming more people on an airplane, at least this seating would minimize issues sharing armrests and bumping shoulders and knees.

No armrest to share!

All legs would touch.

The people sitting by the windows better wear diapers because they're not going anywhere until the plane arrives at destination.

These would cause in-flight riots, plus some terrorism.

"Four more inches of legroom" my ass.

They'd just scrunch the seats four inches closer together.

Armrests could be added. They would fold up like the seats.
The seats fold up. That would indeed make emergency disembarking more dangerous.
Nobody's legs would touch in that picture. Ditto for shoulders.
Hips might touch but that's it.
The window seat passenger already has to ask the other two to move to go to the bathroom, unless of course they are all tiny people. I don't see how this seating make that materially worse.
What would be worse is motion sickness. Some people couldn't sit there. There's no way I could sit in that middle seat and not throw up.

Didn't want to use a pic of fat people, but that happens too. Train, bus, airplane, it's happened to me.

This human tetris seats are horrible.

Spreading like that is poor etiquette on the bus or train as well. Anybody attempting that, unless they look particularly frightening or weird, gets a nudge by me when taking the metro. That guy might get punched. ;)

I don't think there's a problem sitting like that unless there are so few seats left that people are standing.
