Pure gold really is a bright yellow. The darker spots may just be because rough surfaces do not reflect as much light back to the viewer in those areas. There may also be inclusions (non-gold) embedded in that soft 'rock'. The shape of the nugget, rounding of corners, reminds me of the what would happen to something soft being tumbled in a stream. So it looks right to me. Ask chikie about the other details about what a gold nugget should look like. Then again, we don't have enough data to prove beyond a doubt its not a forgery. I trust a buyer would ask for that.
