Same way I do. Calling upon the leftover strands of demonic energy left over from my previous possession.

Shiny public art due to sunlight focusing problem:

Image

It had been up since October 2012, so I guess it was just happenstance that no one stood in the problem spot--which moves with the date of the year--until last spring. Since then the artist has attempted to make alterations to prevent the focusing problem but nothing has been entirely successful so it has been placed in (presumably shaded) storage until a fix can be determined.

Read the article, I call blatherskite. I don't believe enough light can reflect on the inside of those half-spheres to cause burning at the focal point.

It probably isn't blatherskite. People underestimate the amount of energy in sunlight all the time. It doesn't really take much lensing to create a "death ray" with it, as evidenced on a much smaller scale by kids burning ants with a pocket magnifier.

Although this installation's concave lensing only reflects light from the inner sphere, there is certainly still enough focused energy to singe a jacket or burn someone's skin.

I guess I should have made it clear that the focusing point moves with the time of day as well as the day of the year. At the time of the picture was one time when there was no such focusing point because the left half as pictured that would have cast the focusing point was entirely in the shade of the right half.

Also it has been in the artist's interest to fix the focusing problem because 25% of his fee for creating the public artwork has been withheld until he can do so. The larger hemispheres are 5 meters tall and the design of the sculpture was to have people walk through it, but since the burning incident last spring it had been surrounded by barrier to stop people from wandering into the focus.

Nope, not a spoiler. That happened in Season 2, prior to her character being widowed.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium is a very awesome place with a very awesome newsletter.

They have a story about an octopus that escaped its tank and went missing over 6 months. Turns out it broke into a different tank and managed to hide for half a year.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium is gorgeous.
I had a small octopus in a fish tank for a few years. I kept a smaller tank nearby with his food, small shore crabs. He would occasionally not wait for me to feed him. He'd leave his tank move about a foot in air to get to the crab tank, eat one, and go back to his tank.
