I thought the original got his ass kicked by Grant.

This is NOT a color photo:

Well, technically it IS because of the grid of colored lines superimposed atop the otherwise gray-shade pic fools the eye into filling in the "false" colors. At the link there are more examples.

Hey, obvs: as our resident color-blind person, how would you describe the color of the shirt that the woman in back right is wearing? At first glance to me it looks green.

Grimace also had an Irish Uncle (Uncle O'Grimacey) who would usher in Shamrock Shake season.
A nice treat to wash down the Fillet O' Fish during Lent.

It looks green to me too. The effect works better if you don't focus anywhere but move your eyes around the image. But the people with red lines, that doesn't work for me, and the orange thy used for the skin barely does (paranoid) uhm, I see the colors, just not the effect.

oh yeah, I forgot about that, also a Mac thing

sometimes I use the keyboard viewer to find special characters that only appear when holding option down

To access the keyboard viewer you need to turn on the input menu in the keyboard's system preference panel

That's because he is the best athlete I've ever seen. I'm still wasted at the Raiders for ruining his baseball career.

Restoration work upon Renaissance works reveals original details:

Image

including glorious colors and an apparently censored artwork.

While the author of this BoingBoing.net article also reflected upon some of the more recent failures of restorations, here is another example of a restoration upon Van Eyck's Adoration of the Mystic Lamb which was applied soon after the artist's death:

Image

The link above tells which is the original and the restoration.

I like the "unnecessary" detail of adding the rocket blasts to the back end(s?) of the Enterprise.
