Title: Steamed meat popsicle

Post by maurvir »

It's amazing to see how much this technology has matured. When I was still a grad student in 2000, I attended a status meeting with my advisor at JPL. (I was working on a JPL funded grant project) Afterwards, a researcher from Cal Tech invited us to visit their lab in the hopes that we might work on their grant project as well - as they also happened to need custom integrated circuits "cheap". (Hey, getting grad students to do this sort of work is vastly cheaper than paying commercial outfits!) We didn't end up requesting to be included on their grant project, as it was significantly out of scope for us, but it was a very interesting tour.

I can't go into detail due to an NDA, but I can say that they were working on something very similar - except that it required literal racks of amplifiers, computers, and a wiring harness the diameter of a waste bin. To see this system use such a tiny probe and cable, with what appears to be a small signal processing box and laptop, is unbelievable.

I'm pretty optimistic that one day we will either be able to repair nervous system damage or route around it with electronics.

A flooded and eroding quarry has swallowed houses Erftstadt, Germany. Multiple people missing

It looks like that town was already screwed due to flooding, but damn. That was insane.

Well, they are NOT ads for those products. Considering that those protective side-labels have official logos and such from their respective companies, I am guessing that there was SOME negotations (and some laughs) that went on between Nabisco and those companies which allowed Nabisco to use this packaging.

While these labels will be available for a limited time, I also predict that some time in the future--LONG after their "Use by" date has expired--that some of these protected packages of Oreo Thins will be re-discovered after having been shoved into the back of the pantries.

I disagree, they're putting a products/company logo in front of people's eyes. I'm calling those ads.

The Green Giant one is pretty cool.

Honey are you eating junk food?
No, see! holds up side of package

And Proteus brought the upright beast into the garden and chained him to a tree and the children did make sport of him.
