Watchmen was meh, too pretentious and too much blue rooster. Best part was the new Trek trailer, which looks amazing!

Watched it today--now even more baffled by your problem with the nudity.

The over the top sex, nudity and violence very much seemed like a "OH LOOK AT US WE CAN BE EDGY!" thing to me.

neither the sex, the nudity, nor the violence seemed over the top to me.

but all that stuff was in the book

In one form or fashion.
One of my friends told me to notice how Dr. Manhattan's penis size seems to change throughout the movie.

Anyways.

Just saw Brokeback Mountain, for the second time. Much, much better the second time around, or maybe I just grew up in the 3 years since I first saw it, or maybe I just have a greater appreciation for Ang Lee movies since I've basically seen one per week since January. It was a bit weird watching Heath Ledger post-death and post-Joker performance. Gave me a greater appreciation but also a greater sense of sadness for his performance.

I don't think it was over the top, but I was surprised at the R rating.

I almost considered seeing it again in the theater, but ill wait for the dvd.

The only downside is missing out on the HUGENESS of a movie theater's screen.

You mean when I went on my binge and uploaded all my Runaways, Ex Machina and DMZ stuff, that I didn't upload Watchmen while I was at it?

I also don't have an interest in reading it, sorry. Not my cup of tea (a few of my friends own it, I have been offered a copy to borrow).

Doom

It fails to tell a story, like the game. So if you're a BIG fan of the Doom games it's ok. There's a character called Dr Carmack (The creator of the Doom games is John Carmack and they have the BFG (Big stick fiddling Gun) a weapon from the game.

The Sandlot. I love this flick. It's so funny!
I thought BFG was from Quake (also an id property, but still).

Oh... I'm not sure when it appeared first... It is in Doom 3, and the movie looks like it.
user Stupid cockwomble
User avatar
Nah, BFG is Doom only.

I think Quake II had a nice boss weapon, but it's different.
I could've swore from my Quake ]|[ Arena days that there was a BFG.

There was a BFG in quake.

I watched Twilight this morning. Overall, i liked it, but i thought they coulda gone with a longer movie and kept in other scenes from the book. I also didn't much care for the vampite make up. They looked like they were described in the book, but imo, it didn't translate well onto the big screen. They shoulda looked more human.

Oh, and had i not read the book first, i probably wouldn't have liked it much, simply because there was just too much missing and having read the book, i could fill in the blanks. I hope the director/screenwriter do a better job on the next one.

Yeah. They were close to the idea, but not right on.
I think what it should've looked like is fresh snow that has melted just slightly and refrozen, leaving it white but with a little bit of sparkle.

Race To Witch Mountain
I just saw Know1ng.

It was a good movie. But it had a ton of unexpected plot twists. And some of them didn't go together very well.

The big surprise was the entire movie ended with the main character (Nicolas Cage) finally believing in God and Heaven. And that is topped off by a complete "Adam & Eve" theme in the last clip.

Overall, I would give it a 7 or 8 out of 10. Which is not that bad given some of the more recent Nicolas Cage films. The Wicker Man anyone?

How in holy hell could you give Knowing a 7 or 8? I was literally laughing out loud multiple times during that movie. So much sweet sweet unintentional comedy.

and I might add I'm a nic cage fan.
