Did you know that Mamma Mia was originally going to be released with a secondary title? It was going to be:

Mamma Mia: Someone Make Pierce Brosnan Stop Singing

He objected through his agent. They were forced to take it out at the last minute.

You would have to drug me and then pay me to get me to watch that movie.
Actually, if you watch it in the right mood, you can have a great time.

We watched it because there was nothing else on, but we continually burst out laughing at how insanely bizarre it is.

What you didn't like watching RDJ play himself?
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part I
They so should of split up book 6 (best 1 in the series) into 2 parts like they did for this one. It rocked!
The Hustler.

Antz.

Kept getting it confused with my memories of Bug's Life. What the heck happened that two studios would do such similar stories at the about the same time?

Both with Christopher Walken, no less....
Um, A Bug's Life doesn't have Christopher Walken. And the whole "two movies with very similar stories" thing comes along a lot, sometimes without either studio knowing until one is announced.

I thought Walken played the head grasshopper.....turns out it was Kevin Spacey doing a Walken impression.

Old school whodunnit. I forgot how much fun it is.
The Thomas Crown Affair. The original, of course.

my favourite recent examples came out within months of each other:

The Losers
The A-Team
The Expendables

pretty much all the same movie. one based on a comic, one an old tv show, and one on (mostly) washed up action movie stars.

as for what i've seen recently,

i thought Machete was hilarious.
The Naked Gun. Forgot how high-larious it is!

I just saw Predators. This movie came and went and I wasn't even aware of it, until it appeared in the video vending machine at Safeway. It has a top-notch cast too, it's not just some Syfy knockoff.

Anyway, It looked great, but had a shallow story. Pretty much just like the original.

Really, just watched them now!

I like these two as well, but you really have to suspend any desire for good acting to appreciate them. I blame the script. I also thought Bill's ending was a bit anticlimactic. But I'm sure that was by design, and I'm just a sucker for the big sword fights (the fight with daryl hannah's character whose-name-I-can't-remember is great).
