Taxi Driver, for the millionth time. God, what a great movie.

I liked it when Mary Gross said that to the mirror in Feds.
Aw, he's no fun, he fell right over.

GI Joe: Rise of Cobra
Not great but not bad either. At least they didn't totally destroy my childhood memories of playing with The Joes and hours watching the cartoon. It was worth watching Jr really get into it. He loved it.

I just finished Transformers 2.
Not bad.
A little action heavy but it was decent for a Netflix rental.

I watched Shrink last night. It was ok. Something to watch if you don't have anything else.
Because she died in the book, and if they had messed with it more than they did, there would have been deaths at the producers offices

I'm sorry Dave...
Yeah... it's pretty much a middle school classic.
I'm sorry Dave...
And now, for something completely unexpected... The Men Who Stare At Goats. Who saw this? This was just bizarre. Funny, but.. I have no idea what I just saw. (Perhaps even more unexpected was the fact that a bunch of law students actually got out of the library to see a movie.)

I saw 2012 today too. I'm not sure what just happened. It was somehow more ridiculous than Transformers 2.
The visuals don't hold up.
I saw it being compared to "Day After Tomorrow". Was it sillier than that one?

It's a valid comparison, it's the same director, but yes, it was much sillier.
Not that it wasn't entertaining.

Layer Cake, just because it had Daniel Craig in it. British mobsters make quite a change from the usual crime fare.
I also tried to watch Dazed and Confused because I was amazed that someone actually made a movie about my HS graduation year (and it has Milla in it), but it was so bad I only got 15 minutes in and switched over to Fastimes At Ridgemont High instead, a much better filck.

2012
I had some time to kill, so went in with a few expectations:
1 - Bad science.
2 - Things go boom.
3 - Totally over the top dialogue and acting.
4 - An utterly implausible situation resolved with a thoroughly stupid solution. The solution will be absolutely impossible to accomplish, but someone explains how it's possible in a really short monologue.
Yup on just about all counts, but the acting wasn't all bad. They did a good job with what they had to work with. Also on #4: the explanation takes 2 sentences:
"I wouldn't have thought it possible. Leave it to the Chinese."
A lot better than I thought it was going to be. Actually a pretty funny movie.

I saw The Thin Red Line last night.
Thought it was a pretty mediocre movie overall… could have been so much better. I didn't feel any emotion from it, pretty flat.

Looks like they have decided to package the DVD and Blue-Ray versions together.

It must be difficult going through life without the ability to appreciate the genius of Terrence Malick.

I saw Avatar earlier. The plot was very mediocre and slow in parts but holy hell I could have watched like 3 more hours just for the visuals.

I thought it was a well put together movie, and I really appreciated it from a technical (film and editing) standpoint.
But the emotional feeling that can be had with movies such as Downfall, Black Hawk Down (especially Black Hawk Down!), The Guardian, The Perfect Storm, Taking Chance, United 93, and/or We Were Soldiers was not felt in Thin Red Line. It felt fragmented and the action scenes felt kinda cheese/cheap.
Watched Punisher: War Zone last night. It was pretty good, but I didn't like how they changed Castle's past and how his family died. I really don't see why they felt the need to do that, anyway.
