She's cute as a button, sings and dances. The ultimate pop star: Ayaya.

Ne~e (that means "Hey" in English)

For added fun, you can look up all of the different versions of the song that she's done. The piano bar version is unbelievable.

This next one is from 3nin Matsuri, of which Ayaya was a member.

Chu! Natsu Party

(bonus: I tracked down the hard-to-find ukulele version of Ne~e for you.)

J-pop week wouldn't be complete without a video from Morning Musume, would it? I've kinda been working up to it, if you hadn't noticed. Anyways,

Joshi Kashimashi Monogatari

(WTF is Ai doing at 4:33? Brushing her teeth?)

This time we have two members of Morning Musume, Ai Kago and Nozomi Tsuji, collectively known as W. Career tip: never give your musical act a name like W, or it'll get lost in a Google search.

The song is a cover of a classic by The Peanuts, who you might remember as the singing fairies from Mothra. Koi No Fuga

A Mystery: Why Can't We Walk Straight?

Try as you might, you can't walk in a straight line without a visible guide point, like the Sun or a star. You might think you're walking straight, but as NPR's Robert Krulwich reports, a map of your route would reveal you are doomed to walk in circles.

A teaser from Inland Empire.

Man, this was weird, even for David Lynch!

Where was I? Yes, I remember now: Koi No Fuga, which brings us to--

The Peanuts live on the Ed Sullivan Show, Lover Come Back To Me!

Bonus: The Peanuts sing Koi No Fuga. Creepy cute. They belong in an episode of The Munsters.

Koi No Fuga written in Japanese is

恋のフーガ

which I must admit looks very cool, especially in a more intricate font.

Extra bonus: This one brings the fail. Same song, but oh so wrong. I found this version while searching around. Notice how everything that is so fun about the W video is mirrored here by total suck. I don't know their name.

She plays guitar too, and she's good.

You can get a YouTube video to begin at any time. The easy way is to right-click on the video and select "Copy video URL at current time". (This works in Firefox; not sure about other browsers.) The manual way is to add the time to the end of URL. For instance, &t=3m37s.

I presume the edges are sharp. It would be more convincing if she reached out and decapitated a watermelon once in a while.

It's got one of those time thingies on the end of the URL that starts at a certain spot. You only have to watch about 30 seconds.

Lazy Teenage Superheroes

12:49 mins.

Lazy Teenage Superheroes follows Ty as he tries to get his new "super" friends, Mitch, Cal, and Rick, to put down the video games, get off the couch, and use their powers to help save the world, instead of themselves.
