It's actually an hour long video on the history of Star Wars design by Lucasfilm's VP and Executive Creative Director for Star Wars - Doug Chiang

By the way, Episode I the Phantom Menace just turned 20. I feel older than Yoda.

Video of SpaceX' Crew Dragon RUD with analysis from the leaker.

what's an RUD?

I know there was a problem. Leaker? I don't care for leaks. They'll fix the problem or it won't fly, certainly not with people inside, until they do.

Yes, I'm an Elon Musk fanboy. I also like results and a good track record. If I wanted to go to space, I'd go with SpaceX.

Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly, or in laymen's terms, a big kaboom.

So North Bergen High School in New Jersey put on "Alien: the Play" which became an Internet sensation.

Just to get a flavor for the production, here is their chestburster scene. Do note: this begins with the actor playing Kane (John Hurt's character) screaming, so while otherwise SFW you may want to turn down the sound before playing that link.

Unfortunately because of the general expense the school lacked the funding to continue beyond TWO performances this past March, but "Alien" director Ridley Scott sent the school a check for $5000 to allow the drama club to continue to perform the play.

This past Friday, April 26th, was selected by the school to celebrate the 40th anniversary of "Alien" (the actual limited release date was May 25, 1979). If you have the time (about an hour-and-a-half) you can watch here a recording of that performance which includes a short introduction by Sigourney Weaver who attended. The play itself begins after the first 6 minutes, and Weaver compliments the cast and crew starting at 1:24:50.

Afterward the cast and crew for the play got to meet Weaver herself (ABC News video at link). Following that the Mayor of North Bergen Nicholas Sacco had the pleasure of making this announcement (in a video tweet at the last link):
Quote:
The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts offered a surprise of its own after the show. Each of the members of the cast and crew received a $1,000 scholarship to the program's summer camp, while the graduating seniors -- including an almost-literally floored [Gabriella] Delacruz [who was the play's Ripley] -- with a $10,000 scholarship for college.

Wow, that's actually pretty impressive. Sure beats the socks off of yet another production of "Our Town"

On his "Late Show" which aired last night, Stephen Colbert asked Keanu Reeves a serious-sounding question probably looking for a comedic answer, but...well, watch.
