So is this set way in the past or is that just a different Yoda? I haven't had the chance to watch it yet.

It happens after Episode VI, Return of the Jedi

It has not been established if "baby Yoda" is related to Yoda at all. In the prequels, there's a female of Yoda's species in the Jedi council, I don't remember seeing her, but she's supposed to be there. Yoda's species is unknown (or they never gave it a name)

Now, I have two theories, One: it's just another character from the same species as Yoda.

Two: he's a clone, there are clones in Star Wars. Where did they get Yoda's "DNA"? who knows. But remember, Star Wars is NOT science fiction, it's fantasy.

This show is so fuckin’ cliche, I can’t believe I’m still watching it.

But it is so good. So far I love this show.

I don’t love this show. But I seem to have naive forever hope that somewhere in the Star Wars universe there is a good story to be told that doesn’t devolve into cutesy pandering and character cliches.

Is this story actually going anywhere?

It seems to be exploring the past of the Mandalorian and the Mandalorians so far. More explanation on the child depends on if they intend to violate the law that Yodas species stays a secret.

Ok, it's true, Yoda's species has never been named. mentioned, stablished, we don't know it. But "law" that it is a "secret"?. I disagree with that, but whatever.

I mentioned my theories in this thread. The child is either a clone of Yoda, or just from the same species. It doesn't really matter, eventually they'll reveal where he came from, and there will be a great disturbance in the fandom, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and would never shut up about it.

So why does Jango Fett appear without his helmet in Attack of the Clones, despite it being rigidly against Mandolorian religion?

it's a stick fiddling movie, they did it to show the audience how all those clones that were showed to Obi Wan looked the same as Jango Fett. Maybe. It doesn't matter.

all people do that, some people are more strict than others when it comes to traditions and stuff like that

one thing that star wars has a lot is rogues, some people just do whatever they want

By the way, in rebels, Sabine Wren is without her helmet most of the time. And when they went to Mandalore, there were other mandalorians without helmets. YES, Rebels is part of the current canon.

and finally, again, it's star wars, a fantasy movie, it doesn't matter
