Today, October 5, 2019, is the 50th anniversary of the BBC airing the first episode of "Monty Python's Flying Circus".

To officially celebrate that, in London there will be HAS BEEN the "Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Gumbys World Record Attempt" along with many other events to celebrate all things Pythonish.

That is all.

Apparently on BBC America they blur all the boobies in the animations. Yes, they feel the need to edit 100 year old porn.
juice Inadvertently correct

Big part of my childhood--or whatever we now call "tween" years-teens.
I remember hoping desperately each week that our local TV listing got it right and that MPFC would not get pre-empted.
There were several times where the opening of the program would keep me guessing.

The PBS station showed the program unedited, so not only were there the boobs in the animation, but some actual topless women.
My friend/neighbor growing up had 3-4 of their albums.

Two years ago I was looking for a gift for my son's 13th birthday and was surprised to find no DVD collections available. I figured a new distribution agreement must have been in the works--and some time later saw that Netflix would be streaming the show.

My kids very much like Holy Grail and Life of Brian, they aren't nearly as keen on the Flying Circus. Some great bits on that show imo.
Only seen the movies and select clips from the show.

I love the R.A.F. banter sketch. "cabbage crates coming in over the briney!"
