Do you follow any? I kinda find that term odd. You Tube star. But hey, some are funny. I watched a few Danny Duncan vlogs and he's hilarious, so i may start following him.

I follow Yong Yea, for his information about the PC game industry.

I follow a couple channels. It's basically cable access, but whatever your niche interest, there's some people doing shows about it.

None. I had made only a few extended trips into YouTube specifically (mostly I look for a specific thing on YouTube) and even those left me indifferent to any and all appeals to "Subscribe now!"

It also makes a difference that I have never set up an account at YouTube figuring that the less Google knows about me the better for me (despite all of Alphabet's claims that they MUST know me better to serve me better. Heh. PAY ME FIRST).

I follow Patrick Baird's garageband guides, but I wouldn't call him a "star".

I have too many youtube subscriptions, I don't know if they're "stars". What does it take to be a "youtube star"? millions of subscribers? if so, I guess I follow a couple.

But I'll never subscribe to pewdiepie

I watch The Try Guys. They aren't as interesting or entertaining as they used to be. They seem to be running out of ideas.

Linus? He's kinda pretty, I guess.
I don't subscribe to anything but I have enjoyed "The Everyday Astronaut" for rocketry, and "Rick Beato" for music.

I watch these while I'm doing large batch scan jobs at work on my workstation to fill the time.

I have also watched some Linus Tech Tips but the whole premise of that is wasteful consumerism taken to the max. It makes me weep.

My daughter and I like "Smarter Every Day", "The King of Random", "The Backyard Scientist", "The Slow Mo Guys", and a few others. I personally like the Guild of Ambience, but those aren't so much followed as used in the background.
I like Doug DeMuro’s car reviews, the Everyday Astronaut’s space stuff, and Linus Tech Tips for the computer stuff. My in laws live about a ten minute drive from the LTT studios, so I tempted to swing by and see if they give tours.

I never really considered Joe Rogan a YT star, but i guess he is. Did you hear/see his interview with Michael Hunter, the Canadian butcher? It was pretty good.

Forgot about this one, probably because I watch them infrequently, but he is really good.

I’ve never used YouTube in the manner described in this thread. For me, it’s alternately a reference, a steam for music on demand, or a source for clips to post in threads here.

my kids like a couple of gamer channels aimed at kids

one of them, unspeakable, is constantly showing off his mansion and lambo

the kind of money these people make is just nutso

No, this is in the category of those who wanted to be rock stars or movie stars. A lot of people think it's easy. It's not.

They might be rich, they might be short term leasing for their videos like so many second tier hiphop stars.
It's funny sometimes, I have seen locations in hiphop vids that were the same as you see in porn shoots. There are a bunch of high end properties that you can rent for shoots all around the LA area.
I watch/or listen to a ton of lectures and papers (philosophy mostly) on YouTube. The only sort of personality I might watch is like Jimmy Dore or something. Or this dude named Andy demoing guitar pedals.

I think Danny Duncan makes around 50k a month, and he's generous with his family.
