Anyone heard if Avenue 5? I downloaded it and plan to watch it later.
Avenue 5 is hilarious. it's a cruise ship in space and everyone is cranky. The gravity accident that caused them to go off course and gain a three year delay didn't help.

Servant (tv+ or whatever it's called) just finished watching all the episodes. I quite enjoyed it. Actually so far I've liked all the shows on tv
I'm surprised there's anything on [nullsymbol] TV.

NOT watching Avenue 5 here.
Avenue 5 seems to me to be made up of gags and ideas that weren't good enough for 'Veep' or 'The Thick Of It'. If only Judd was played by Matt Berry, (who Mr Gad seems to be imitating) then that would at least be something. I like the orbiting human waste and coffins, though.

Recently there was a mention of "House Hunters" (HGTV) somewhere, but I'm not going to dig through all the old posts to find it.
Anyway, I came across a couple of articles that revealed the truth!

The other two houses the Newcamps toured with their fake “relocation agent” were not even on the market, just listed for rent on Airbnb. The third house is the one they already owned and had been living in for months.

I forgot this is finally out, the trailer looked stupid, unless they explain why there are so many Nazis hiding everywhere to kill. I'll check it out, a know somebody who worked on that show and said it was great.

Saw the first episode, it's pretty good. That Nazis are around because it's 1977 (which is interesting because that's a year after the movie Marathon Man), which makes it slightly more believable, plus it was at least funny.

Well... not that they're entirely wrong... the uhm... part inspired by reality is what's embarrassing, and basically the true bad guy, as far as the 1st episode, seems to be Russia, so there's that. So far everything could be considered... plausible :heh:

Oh... huh.

Given our track record of portraying Latin American countries less than favorably... :paranoid:

it's ridiculous, they totally blew it

like yeah, venezuela has its own space program, don't you know!
I haven't watched it, but I've heard it's supposed to be socialist propaganda with little connection to the actual causes of what is happening over there. Is that right?

Who ever said that is an idiot who hasn't seen the show.

Saw the 2nd episode, it got better. IMHO, the representation of everything is accurate, and it's NOT about the situation here. I'd say the show focuses on the characters first.

A space port was talked about once. "You know who" showed plans and everything, but it never happened, like a lot of things he promised never happened.
I've been watching BOFURI: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense. If you don't watch Anime and aren't familiar with the SAO concept then this is not for you, but otherwise it is mindless fun with a hilarious character that keeps on getting even more ridiculously overpowered.

I’m getting into it. I absolutely love the nihilist and enjoy the weird meta quality of Hugh Laurie’s accents. I don’t see Berry working across from Laurie in this one though. He’s got too much natural charisma. I see Judd as mostly a loose parody of Elon Musk.

I like the offbeat humor, it fills the void left by The Good Place ending. It's chock full of those "waitaminute..." offhanded remarks that hint at how screwed up that world is.

And in that universe, I wonder if the "other" president was responsible for the collapse of google?

Kingdom (Korean [dubbed, no reading necessary], Netflix, 2 seasons): The Crown Prince of a feudal kingdom investigates his estranged father's closely guarded illness...related to a doctor who has recently treated a small village to the famine-stricken southern peninsula....which have unwittingly dined on on an animal-mauled corpse. Well you know what comes next: Korean zombies vs. feudal sword-masters. This show is awesome, awesome, awesome. Costumes, scenery, cinematography is outrageous. Feudal Korea wins the "coolest hats of all time" contest.

Just put a lid on it.

Beforeigners

Quote:
Beforeigners is a Norwegian six-part TV series that premiered on 21 August 2019. It is the first Norwegian-language series produced by HBO Europe.

The show is in norwegian, but you can hear TV news and music on the radio, ans see graffitti, in english. Weird.

Quote:
The series takes place in Oslo, where sudden flashes of light appear in the bay in Bjørvika. A large number of people from the past time periods suddenly have appeared in the present — people from the Stone Age, Viking Age and the 19th century.

A woman from the past appears dead, possible murder. A present day detective is partnered with the first "time traveler" graduated from the police academy, a viking woman, to investigate.

I have had the LP for years, might have seen it in a broadcast when I was tiny, but can't remember.

I intend on learning ALL of the Rockman's dialogue, so the next time I am in a random conversation with a stranger I can just use that as a monologue.
